Who we help
One team for families and professionals
Whether you are an heir yourself or handle an estate on behalf of a client: we combine genealogical, legal and financial research, with discretion as our starting point.
i.
Heirs & families
A relative who died abroad, a forgotten account, an estate you have only just heard about. We find out what there is and who is entitled to it.
You need to be certain that all beneficiaries and all assets have been identified. We take that research off your hands, so you can settle the estate with confidence.
Three specialisms that often come together in practice: who are the heirs, what is still out there, and in which country is it held?
Heir research
We trace heirs worldwide in complex estates, including when families have been separated by emigration or the passage of time.
Unclaimed assets
We locate unclaimed assets and make sure they reach the rightful beneficiaries, including the full settlement.
International research
We conduct cross-border research into heirs and assets, with knowledge of different legal systems and archives.
In many cases we prevent assets from being forfeited to the State through limitation.
Our approach
From first contact to final payment
Families are often spread across several countries and generations. That is why we work in clear steps, carefully and thoroughly documented.
1
Enquiry
You tell us about an estate or a possible asset. We assess the prospects free of charge.
2
Family tree
We reconstruct the family, generation by generation, across borders where needed.
3
Archives
Civil registries, notarial and financial archives, at home and abroad.
4
Securing
We secure the assets before they are lost through limitation.
5
Settlement
We guide the process through to payment to the rightful beneficiaries.
Our story
Specialists in international inheritance research
Unclaimed Assets International was founded in 2018 by Jurgen Heeneman and Klaas Zondervan. They combine experience in the financial sector and inheritance law practice with specialist knowledge of genealogical research and international inheritance law.
With our expertise and international partnerships, including our affiliated partner Inheritas for the Caribbean, we secure assets that would otherwise be lost.
De ErfgenaamKlaas Zondervan is known from De Erfgenaam (“The Heir”), a Dutch RTL 4 television series about complex international estates.
